Hello Sir,

My name is Vincent. I am from India. I am currently pursuing MCITP course. I came across Window powershell and I loved it. I watched some videos of yours at microsoft.com regarding powershell.

I am practicing commands using get-help command in powershell. The main problem is that i don't know when i can use pipeline or variables. In India we don't have video tutorial or books about powershell. I have some knowledge Active Directory Module.

I don't have any knowledge about scripting, syntax or variables. One of our sir in my class has recommended me not  to pursue it, as i don't have any knowledge about scripting etc. Is there any prerequisite for learning Windows Powershell. Will it be possible for me learn powershell or should i concentrate more on AD & Exchange using GUI. I really want to learn Powershell.

Please let me Know.

Thanks

I wouldn't say there are pre-requisites, no. PowerShell is not a scripting language, so it sounds like the person in your class is misinformed.

You could look at my book, http://manning.com/jones, which is available electronically. You could also look at the training videos I've done for CBTNuggets.com on PowerShell. Both would be accessible to you in India. There are other resources on http://MoreLunches.com and http://ShellHub.com, including numerous free videos that might be helpful.

PowerShell is Microsoft's direction. Focusing on the GUI would be unwise. Many folks are just now figuring that out.
