Wow, these past few months have been a whirlwind of activity! I am thrilled to announce that I entered into a partnership with the folks at Idera to develop and deliver the next evolution of PowerShellPlus.
I picked Idera because for the past 5 years, they have been a strong player in the Windows management and administration space with products for SQL Server, SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics.
It made a lot of sense to combine strengths and visions and together enter the PowerShell
market. Customers and users of PowerShell Plus immediately gain benefits like
24/7 support which only a large company can offer, and I gain the luxury of my
own dev team. That's cool.
Together with the Idera product team, we have made significant enhancements to PowerShellPlus like
- way more advanced code completion including parameter completion,
- a truly cool and innovative Learning Center with cmdlet help, wmi help and fully interactive tutorials,
- the ability to embed the real console into the editor, so while working on a script you can now operate from a single window.
The result is PowerShellPlus Professional Edition, now in beta. Grab yourself a copy here! It works with PowerShell V1 as well as CTP V2. The production version will be available towards the end of September.
We've given Jeffrey Snover and a few folks in the PowerShell community an early peek at the product, and they had some great things to say.
Of course I'd love your feedback, too, good and bad, so drop in and download the beta,
and let us know what you think (comment on this post, use the feedback form, or Help->Online Interaction within the product).
If you don't yet know PowerShellPlus, it is motivated by the needs of real
people out in the field, managing enterprises with their hair on fire, best
summarized by this wonderful user feedback: "It's NOT Visual Studio. It IS
what administrators and designers need to quickly hammer out dynamic solutions
to tricky problems of management and configuration of complex
systems/applications. WOW!"
In addition, with the new learning center, PowerShellPlus starts to become
your personal trainer, one who is always available and not charging by the hour. The
Learning Center is very useful not only for the beginners but for everyone
because it gives quick answers to Cmdlet usage and WMI classes saving a lot of time.
It also contains self-paced interactive tutorials for reference whenever YOU feel
you are hungry for more. Or as Aleksandar, one of the early testers, puts it:
"the learning center itself is a good enough reason to use PowerShellPlus
Professional".
We invested a lot of passion, effort and energy to make all of that happen.
And we worked hard to make sure the product is fairly priced and will provide a very quick return on your investment.
There is a great window of opportunity for the next 30 days. We're offering the new version at a discounted price of $79 a copy for early adopters who purchase during the beta period. Once the production version is released it will be priced at $145. Check out the press release announcement here.
If you'd like to know more about my new partner
Idera, let them introduce themselves to you. And of course trust and
continuation is important to us, so existing users of PowerShellPlus with
commercial licenses will be eligible for a free upgrade to the new version,
details will be emailed out in the next few days.
Lastly, as you can see, we're giving this site a pretty dramatic facelift - so
visit again and look for some pretty cool feature and content enhancements over the coming weeks.
Cheers for today,
Tobias
